Co-vid 19 has made working from home the norm. Therefore the home office has become more critical and necessary to get right as we are spending more time in them. Before this pandemic, I just had my computer in the garage as I require my wheelchair to blue-tooth to my computer for my mouse.
Last year, after a few months of working from home, I realised that I wouldn’t be going back into the office anytime soon , as well as starting my company, we thought that I needed a proper office. It has an extra wide sliding door so that my electric wheelchair has adequate clearance to get through even if I have bags hanging off the sides. We sourced an electronic door lock, with a key pass. as well as an automatic blind.
Once inside, there is ample circulation space for my wheelchair to turn around in. The bench is flush with the level of my tray on my chair, it is at a suitable level for me to reach things and work.
On one side of the desk, I have my computer, with the monitors on raised shelves so that they are at eyes, which my physio recommended so it was better for my posture.
The ergonomics of my computer monitors, the computer tower and printer are angled so that I can reach from my chair. The filing cabinet in is easy reach while I am working at the computer
